Happy Feet Fitness ...

Indi, aged 3 1/2, from Perth, WA, has just piloted a rocket ship to the moon, dodging a couple of meteorites on the way. She has since gone on a moonwalk and discovered a flying saucer with her friends. They are now talking about flying the flying saucer to meet La La the friendly alien, who would like to show them an awesome alien dance. Indi has never flown a flying saucer before, but she is 100% certain that she can.

Meanwhile, Marcus 4yrs, in Sydney is about to help Fireman Frank save Mrs Muppets cat. Marcus has just learned all about how to call 000 and is now riding in the fire truck with all his classmates after saving Mr Pink’s barn from burning down. He is feeling very proud of himself for helping to save the day and for helping other people.

Then there is Ramus, 3yrs, in Melbourne. He has just put on an amazing pirate costume and learned a special pirate dance. Soon it will be time to go on an epic treasure hunt with all his classmates to help Pirate Pete find his lost treasure. There are sure to be many obstacles and challenges for them to overcome to complete this mission. Ramus is feeling super excited to begin the treasure hunt!

On any given day of the week in one of over a thousand Happy Feet Fitness classes taking place around Australia, there are children actively engaged in Happy Feet’s unique brand of play-based edu-tainment.

The classes feature creative original music and engaging narratives, written to inspire children’s imaginations, nurture a lifelong love of physical activity, and create a supportive environment in which all children feel like they belong.

 Social and Emotional Development

Happy Feet Fitness’s approach to play-based learning is not only beneficial for children’s physical health but also for their social and emotional development. The classes allow children to express themselves creatively and develop social skills such as cooperation, communication, and problem-solving. Happy Feet classes also provide a safe space for children to explore their emotions and learn how to regulate them.

 A Unique Approach

“Happy Feet Fitness is more than just a children’s fitness program,” says Donna McColl, co-creator of the award-winning program. “Our classes provide a unique approach that encourages play-based learning by drawing on the fun of movement and dance, the creativity of original music, and the joy of active play. The combination of these elements alongside our exciting handmade costumes allows us to create very engaging, interactive classes that take the children on fantastic imaginative adventures via narrative, song, and creative movement.”

 Physical and Cognitive Development

Learning through play is essential for children’s growth and development, and Happy Feet Fitness integrates this approach into all its classes. The connection between physical activity and cognitive development has been well-established in research. Physical activity improves brain function and enhances memory, attention, and concentration. When children are engaged in physical activity that incorporates play-based learning, as Happy Feet Fitness does, they are getting the dual benefit of developing both their physical and cognitive abilities.

 Centre Service

Happy Feet Fitness aims to provide an outstanding and valuable service that keeps families and centres well-informed, connected, and excited about every child’s Happy Feet journey.

The program includes over 30 rotating class topics throughout the year. Because of the ongoing rotation, centres can plan future topics into their programming if they so wish. Additionally, the rotation makes sure that the children get to go on exciting new Happy Feet adventures each week, and the enjoyment of trying something new every week maintains a very high level of engagement.

Each class features a Class Activity Sheet for families and educators, as well as an Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Link Sheet for educators. The Class Activity Sheets enable families and to continue exploring the themes presented in class with their children when they get home, while the EYLF Link Sheet assists educators in linking our class content to the Early Years Learning Framework.
